The children’s birth mother reported smoking throughout her pregnancies with Evie and Charlie. She has denied exposing her children to any other substances during her pregnancies. There is a history of maternal mental health issues, birth mother reports having problems with anxiety and depression. There is family history of delayed development and Autism.

Reasons for Coming into Care:

Evie and Charlie moved into foster care in March 2024. Prior to this they lived with their birth parents and older brother. The children become cared for and moved to live with their foster carers due to concerns of neglect, physical and sexual abuse disclosures made by their older brother.

The children live in their foster home together and have regular family time with their older brother (paternal) who is in a different foster home and has a plan of long-term foster care.

Type of Family Needed:

Evie and Charlie need to obtain permanency within an adoptive family together. They need parents who are accepting of their birth family history, the trauma and loss they have experienced and the uncertainties around what this means for them now and in future.

They need adopters who can give them both lots of time, attention, and stimulation to help them in their development.  Adopters need to provide them with security, reassurance and love in a calm, patient, and nurturing home.

The children have lots of energy and need lots of input, so adopters need to be able to match this to meet their needs. They could be placed with a single adopter with a good support network or a couple of any gender.

They could be placed in a home with older children or animals. They need adopters who accept their name as part of their identity and will promote their staying in touch plan with birth family.

Staying in Touch:

The recommended post-adoption staying in touch plan is for twice yearly indirect with birth parents and twice yearly, direct and indirect with their older brother.
